Coaching Philosophy:

Our coaching philosophy is to assist people to become balanced and functional triathletes in order for their enjoyment of the sport of triathlon to continue. We will do this by
  • Providing consistent, specific physical training
  • Ensuring proper rest and recovery are adhered to
  • Assisting with mental conditioning
  • Advocating a healthy lifestyle and the nutritional benefits
  • Reassessing athlete’s reasons for participating in the sport to make certain their goals are being met.

Coach and Athlete Relationship

Why do some athletes look and perform better than others?

Are there secrets, favouritism being shown between coach and athlete? How does an athlete get the most out of their coach and program?

Firstly the athlete must have confidence in the coach and their philosophies.

Athletes must establish a rapport with the coach. Don’t be afraid to regularly seek them out with questions and fears. If the timing or dilemma is inappropriate they will let you know. Arrange a time that gives you both the opportunity to understand your issues.

Listen!!! A coach’s time is valuable. They do a lot more than what you see on the training arena. If you ignore advice; half do what is recommended, be assured it affects everyone and there will be other athletes who will not and reap the full benefits of the training sessions.

Be honest. There is nothing worse for a coach than an athlete without any integrity. If there are some things you don’t understand ask. If you set goals make them realistic. If you have a problem with the coach or any of the above discuss it with the coach not amongst fellow athletes.

If you can adhere to these few simple suggestions, you might surprise yourself with the results that come.

“You’ve got to know how to rest, and that’s much harder to organise than people think”. – Miguel Indurain world champion cyclist.

“Unless you test yourself, you stagnate. Unless you try to go way beyond what you’ve been able to do before, you won’t develop and grow. When you go for it 100 %, when you don’t have the fear of “what if I fail”, that’s when you learn. That’s when you’re really living.” – Mark Allen World Champion tri-athlete.
